The colour chart is the central communication tool between client, planner, and painting contractor. It contains fanned or bound colour samples with designations, numbers, and often tinting formulas. Leading systems such as RAL, NCS, or manufacturer-specific colour systems enable standardised colour communication. In the trade, the chart is used for consultation, quotation preparation, and as a reference for tinting. Digital colour charts on tablets or in visualisation apps are increasingly complementing physical samples. It is important that colour charts are regularly checked for fading and updated, as aged samples can lead to colour deviations during execution.
